Fair Lakes is a residential community in Shanghai, developed on a 25,000 m² plot with an equivalent built area. The project consists of 60 garden apartments distributed across low-rise buildings, arranged around a network of lakes, dense vegetation, and pedestrian pathways that weave through the site. This organic layout not only shapes the circulation but also orchestrates the dialogue between architecture and landscape, blurring the boundaries between them.

Water plays a central role in the composition, generating a calm atmosphere where the buildings appear to emerge naturally from the environment. Each residence opens onto private patios or terraces, strengthening the visual and spatial connection with the outdoors. A clubhouse and swimming pool form the social core of the development, fostering a sense of community within a setting designed for rest and retreat.

The project is grounded in the concept of void as a spatial organizer, exploring how the unbuilt can give form, rhythm, and breath to the built. This vision was recognized in 2004 with the First Prize for Best Residential Design by the Shanghai Exploration and Design Trade Association, and reaffirmed the following year with a national-level award.
